I haven’t been posting here, much, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been working on the Internet. For my latest work, head over to the Inside Interop Blog and check out half a dozen posts from the last week — though you should really spend some time looking at what Brian Chee has been posting, too. Between his words and his video, he’s putting some killer content up, these days.

I’ve also been spending a fair amount of time on the Interop FaceBook and LinkedIn pages, as well as on other sites that will become much more public in the near future.

I also started going to cardiac rehab last week: that will be the subject of the next Learning About My Heart podcast, which should be posted tomorrow. The post should be fun, with plenty of photos courtesy of Carol.

Come back, take a look (and listen)…I’ll try to keep up a little better over here.

I’ve been spending a fair amount of time ramping up blogging activities. Not here, obviously, but over at the Inside Interop blog. This week, I’ve had posts on cloud computing, data center air-conditioning, print servers, as well as the popular weekend wrap-up post. In addition, I’ve been working on the Interop LinkedIn group, the Interop FaceBook page, and the interop_events Twitter feed. There’s also a major new social networking development that I’ll be able to talk about next week.

So what’s next? More of the same, plus at least three more episodes of the new podcast, a new video (or three, or four…), plus some feature writing (and, oh yeah, I’ve got to finish up my course work for the Spring term). Aside from that, it’s just sitting around watching races on TV for me…

More later…

My first small article as a returning freelance writer is up. It’s good to have something “in print” again, but it’s obvious (to me) that I’m still in the process of getting my mind’s muscles back in shape. The physical side of things seems to be heading in the right direction…I just hope the mental side can keep up. I suppose there’s something to be said for being healthy yet “not the sharpest tool in the shed,” but I don’t want to be the one saying it.

Anyway, feel free to go take a look at the article on small business security and insider threats. There’s also a new blog post on netbooks and network infrastructure up at the Inside Interop blog. Let me know what you think about each of these — I’m looking for feedback on how my writing looks these days.

Keep your eyes open for a new series of podcasts coming soon. One of my classes at UF has a project requirement for podcasts and I thought that “learning about cardiac rehabilitation and health” might be a good topic, since I’ve been giving it more than a little thought lately. My only real question is whether to do them as audio or video podcasts — if you feel strongly about it one way or the other, let me know.

That’s it for now…more later.

OK, so I know it’s been a loooong time since the last post. I intended to spend some time blogging around the holidays, but I didn’t feel very good so that didn’t happen. Then I was going to start blogging seriously when my position at InfoWorld was eliminated, but right after that I ended up in the hospital for 19 days, so that didn’t happen. Now, I’m home, and blogging on a free-lance basis, and it’s time to get back into the real world…so here I am.

The plan is to start keeping up with this blog on a regular basis, both for things I don’t have anyplace else to write about, and to let folks know about my other activities. There are some reviews coming up, but until then you can read the beginnings of my work on the Inside Interop blog.

Thanks for stopping by — there will be more, later.

I know, I know, it’s been a long break, but the last couple of weeks have been amazing. I’ve written more words in a shorter time than in a great while. On the one hand, I love it — while I enjoyed the podcasting gig at CMP (and campaigned for it), I found that I missed writing. That itch is being scratched with a vengeance. On the other hand, I get to 2:00 AM, realize I haven’t posted here, and know that sleep does have some priority in my life.

Here’s one thing that I’ve been up to: I’ve added InfoWorld’s SMB IT blog to my portfolio. Check it out (especially after I get some real content posted) and let me know what you think. There have been other things in the last couple of weeks, as well…I’ll have links to those up, soon.

Thanks for hanging around — I’ll try to make it worth your while…

Wow, you let a major conference happen, and everything goes to pot. Sorry about the lag in posts…some interesting things have been happening and they’re going to make for some changes here in the blog.

First big change: I’ve been accepted to graduate school. I’ve enjoyed teaching at the community-education level, and the only way anyone will let me do more is with at least a master’s degree in hand, so it’s off to grad school. Where, you ask? The University of Florida, and in College of Journalism and Communications. I know I’ll be working on a concentration in journalism: there, I’ve told you all I know. Several folks have suggested I blog the experience of going back to school, and I think I shall…lots of technology to be covered, as well as plenty of life in general. I hope it will mean more regular updates, and I hope they’ll be interesting. Let me know what you think.

Speaking of that, I may end up shutting off comments here, since the only regular contributor is a comment-spammer who’s work I kill frequently and with great gusto. It’s only a minor pain, but a pain it is, and I’m not sure I need any more at this point. Do let me know if you would miss the great sense of community here…
