I’ve been doing this long enough to remember when it was cool to overclock your 8088 from 1 MHz to 2 MHz. You had to be a little careful, because some applications couldn’t handle the shorter timing loops. Now, a group has overclocked a Pentium 4 to 8 GHz. I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to keep liquid nitrogen around the house, so I think it will be a while before I try duplicating this particular feat. With that said, I suspect that this machine might actually get snappy performance out of Outlook 2007…
