Anti-War Movement: Introduction

By Inigo de Amescua | 13 December 2007 | Introduction | American Approval of Iraq War, a Chart | Anti-War Movement in Washington, a Slideshow

As George W. Bush’s second term comes to an end the US confronts some very important challenges: the loan crisis, the debate about the health care system and military interventions. Concerning military interventions, the US government has two main issues: Afghanistan and Iraq. The Iranian nuclear crisis is looming closer too. Iraq's difficult political situation is the most pressing. Iraq Body Count research shows 27,000 civilian deaths from violence were reported in 2006; billion of dollars have been spent and not very clear goals are yet on the table.

Responding to these issues a heterogeneous anti-war movement has been formed.
